Corporate Giving Helps Companies Build Bonds
Corporate giving is a term that is becoming more and more familiar, particularly among business leaders across the nation. Whether leaders operate a five-man-shop or a 150 person team, corporate giving is progressively gaining traction in the for-profit world and helps companies build connections among the community, employees and clients. It builds trust and helps create a positive, strong and caring reputation which many consumers appreciate and even look for.
While the initial development of a corporate giving plan for any business may be time consuming, the most successful businesses are those that commit to a belief that giving back to the community is important. In fact, many businesses have adopted the idea that they have a social responsibility to help make the community in which they operate a better place for everyone.
While charitable contributions are important, there are other valuable ways in which businesses can be engaged in the community. For example, Comcast, (a Community Foundation sponsor) aims to fulfill its social responsibility through volunteerism. Comcast supports Las Cruces through “Comcast Cares Day,” currently the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event. It is intended to bring together Comcast employees, their families, friends and community partners to volunteer and “make change happen” in local communities. This spring, more than 850 volunteers helped improve Fairacres Elementary School by painting walls and buildings, pulling weeds and cleaning up the playground area.
While some corporate giving programs might only include one day of service, or one contribution per year, the impact is immeasurable.
According to national trends, corporate giving is expected to increase over the next few years, and studies show that citizens will more often choose businesses whose philanthropic mission aligns with their own values.
Corporate giving is particularly important in our region given the immense need. We all want to live in a thriving community, and together, meaningful achievements can be made.
